About

The Martha Washington Hotel & Spa was initially constructed in 1832 as a private mansion by a Virginia general, and it has since been used to numerous diverse uses. It changed from being a private home to a finishing school for young females. The structure served as a hospital for wounded troops while the forces of the Civil War fought in and around Abingdon, and to this day, there are still romantic tales of nurses and soldiers. The Martha was a women’s college after the Civil War, and today it is a chic hotel that pays attention to its polite Southern traditions and ongoing historic legacy. This quaint historic hotel offers premier suites and deluxe rooms, each with a distinctive design and furnishings, as well as superior facilities and exceptional services.
